That's me!

—Caillou's catchphrase he uses when introducing himself.

Boris David Anderson Jr., better known as Caillou Anderson, is the 22 (later 23) year-old son of Boris and Doris and older brother to Rosie. Throughout the Caillou the Grown Up series, he is a deranged man-child/psychopath with major brain damage, making him a pariah and a threat to everyone wherever he goes.

Personality[]

Caillou is an imaginative boy, like in the PBS Kids series. However, he remained the same as a grown up. But, before the series, during his teenage years and the beginning of his adulthood, he became selfish, spoiled, immature, whiny, dependent, manipulative, despicable, evil, corrupt, and extremely abusive, especially towards his dad, who was fed up with his childish behavior and was unafraid to criticize him for it. This was due to his drunken father banging Caillou's head on the stairs when he was born and an experimental and unstable "deranged eternal childhood" gene that scientists injected into him when he was 12. These traits did not faze him one bit and Boris' efforts usually results him getting blackmailed. As a deranged man-child, Caillou did not seem to take responsibility for his actions, for example when he did not think about what Boris and Rosie has said to him to become a better person and claiming that his date Becky wasn't a very nice lady. The real reason why she left him is because of his lack of maturity. Caillou actually believed that he was entitled to get his way at all times, even if it was impossible or ridiculous. Unbeknownst to him, he was actually embarrassing himself, especially in public, as part of how the gene works. After the series finale, his only trait now is confused.

Background[]

Caillou was born on January 1, to Boris and Doris, his middle name is David, due to his birth during his childhood he often was spoiled. But, his parents thought he was just being a kid, and he will change. However, on October 12, 1995, it was said that when his sister Rosie was born, Caillou was jealous of Rosie one time when he was 6. But he grew to care for her very much.

He burned his hair during a firecracker prank making him bald.

Though he was 22, he still lived with his mom and dad in their house. He called his dad "daddy" in an uncomfortable way (as everyone else began to call him that as well). He did not have a job, for he refused to get one or even grow up.

It was not always that way. Caillou's parents thought he would change, Sadly, they were wrong. After Boris accidentally bumped his son down the staircase, giving him brain damage, things took a deep turn for the worst. Before the events of the "Caillou the Grown-Up" series, when Caillou was 12 years old and while his parents and sister were asleep, he was captured by scientists one night and they took him to their laboratory in a hospital. These scientists experimentally injected Caillou with various genes in order to isolate and study the effects. One of them was the "deranged eternal childhood" gene. The reason for injecting Caillou with it was to successfully prove that living an eternal childhood is unhealthy and wrong. Ever since then, Caillou had been in his childlike state throughout his teenage years and the beginning of his adulthood (alongside his cousin, Boue, who also had some brain damage), slowly becoming deranged and despicable at the same time, having driven his own father to the brink, hating him with a burning passion.

Throughout his eternal childhood, he was known to be an outrageous beacon of double standards in his relationships with women. He became uncontrollably violent if rejected, even at his growing age. When his former crush suddenly fell in love with the new boy, he severely injured many of the students and even his own pet hamster. To some, he may have been kind but there was a lot about him that was not quite as it should have been. Despite dating only Becky (which did not turn out so well), it was rumored he had dated quite a few interesting characters in the past on Tinder before being banned from it. Even in his deranged eternal childlike state, besides hating middle school, he even hated high school. One of the reasons why is that the coach used to throw dodgeballs at him, and always made fun of him because of a shady past. He never got degrees to move on or even graduate, forcing the high school to hold him back before eventually kicking him out.

Before Caillou turned 23, his deranged state grew even more, making him even more evil and mischievous, as he filled his own family with torture (mainly his father), even to the point of using threats every now and then when he could not get his way. At one point, he ruined his mother and father's anniversary. And on Thanksgiving, he drove his own father insane, losing his mind. What was worse was that during the pandemic, he even got his father fired during a global recession, which only fueled his hatred for him even more. Some said that Caillou was a childlike psycho and that he had to be stopped.

However, in the series finale, "Caillou in Quarantine," during the COVID-19 pandemic, his father was at his wits end with his son's antics. His mother, on the other hand, forced the two to go for a walk, where Caillou happily, but foolishly started dancing in the street, due to the lack of cars. While his father fought Mr. Hinkle, Caillou was hit by a car (secretly driven by Doris), breaking every single bone in his body and some teeth. Because of this, he ended up in the hospital. After the series finale, the deranged eternal childhood gene had finally worn off after eleven years. It turned out that a hit by a powerful force was what it took to cause the gene to wear off. Even so, the doctors did a brain transplant, replacing his injured, child-like brain with a healthy and mature brain. Resulting in Caillou being no longer mentally capable of achieving any further childlike traits thus finally ending his threat towards his family. He still remains in the hospital and does not remember a thing about his eternal childhood. And if he did remember, there is no telling if he would ever make amends with his parents, his sister, his family, Becky, and everyone else.

Relationships[]

Rosemary[]

Rosemary is one of the only two adults who are oblivious to Caillou's man-child personality. She is Caillou's grandmother, and she believes that Caillou is a good boy despite the fact that he acts the opposite (even before his brain transplant surgery).

Sarah[]

Sarah is Caillou's long time on again off again girlfriend and eventually his wife while married to Caillou Sarah has one weakness which is her crazy attraction to her father-in-law Boris despite this fact she wouldn't ever do anything to harm Caillou and this crush has been shown throughout the series. Sarah and Caillou remain married and reside with the Andersons. while Caillou has been with Sarah throughout the series he is shown to cheat on her quite frequently. Despite now being married to Sarah he has dated quite a few interesting characters in the past. However, it was revealed that Caillou never married Sarah as she moved to another state, alongside Caillou's other friends, leaving Caillou with a blow-up toy version of Sarah to keep him company. Clearly, that fueled Caillou's childhood insanity further. After the deranged eternal childhood gene wore off and after Caillou's brain transplant, it remains unknown if she would see him again.

Becky[]

Becky is a nice, yet rather soft-spoken woman who was once Caillou's date. At first, she seemed to like Caillou. But, he reveals his psychotic, child-like traits, which only made her very uncomfortable. Using threats, Caillou drove Becky away in anger and fear calling him a psycho. That was what caused him to throw a giant tantrum in public. After the series finale, it is unknown if the now-known mature Caillou would bump into her.

Trivia[]

  • It is revealed that in Caillou The Grown Up AMA, he requests money from his parents (particularly his daddy) and is too lazy to work for a living, making him a dependent person. But after the series finale and after his brain transplant, it remains unknown if he will soon become independent.
  • He had met Dora prior to the events of "Caillou Gets Laid", and they dated for a while.
  • He was 22 years old in the series, but in the series finale, he is 23 years old.
  • His former date Becky mispronounced Caillou's name as "Cayloo", a common mispronunciation often used in GoAnimate/Vyond videos featuring Caillou (mostly the grounded videos out of him) In fact, this mispronunciation may have been a reference to GoAnimate/Vyond videos.
  • It is revealed that Caillou got banned from Tinder for unknown reasons. Although, it is possible that he was either stalking Becky or got extremely aggressive with his other matches.
  • It is revealed that Caillou's grandparents that they thought of him as a nice gentleman, despite him acting the opposite, indicating that they are extremely oblivious of Caillou's deranged man-child personality. Since Caillou is still in the hospital to this day with a new and mature brain, he'd actually become a nice gentleman in a nearby future (if he is ever free to leave the hospital).
  • In his AMA he revealed he used to have hair, but one day he decided to play a prank on his daddy by lighting firecrackers in his closet, but he forgot to get out and the fireworks burned his hair off and it never grew back.
  • Caillou’s goal is to become a businessman, although, when injected with the deranged eternal childhood gene, he didn't do anything to achieve that goal, clearly becoming a freeloader. After the series finale, due to the gene wearing off and the brain transplant, it remains unknown if he will achieve his goal now.
  • Caillou’s father is angry and filled with chagrin and misery in this series, however, some could say that he is putting all of his son's antics on himself, as Caillou is 22 years old, meaning he is a legal adult man, meaning he has the ability to kick him out of his house at any time, but Boris seems to not have the will to force his son to move out. However, it is also might be because Caillou (injected with the gene) occasionally threatens his parents into getting what he wants. When the deranged eternal childhood gene wore off and Caillou got a brain transplant, he might end up moving out of the house.
  • In his AMA, Caillou reveals he doesn’t have a lot of friends, but he sometimes hangs out with Boots.
    • He used to have friends like Leo, Clementine, and especially Sarah. It wasn't revealed what happened in the series, but just like Caillou, they too grew up and are somewhere, perhaps wondering if Caillou would snap out of it.
  • In his AMA, Caillou reveals other sociopathic traits such as a grandiose sense of self, impulsive and hedonistic behaviors, mooching off the generosity of others, and absolutely no ability to follow any life plan whatsoever. These are some of the same traits of his injured, childlike brain caused by his drunken father and of the deranged eternal childhood gene he was injected with when he was 12 years old.
